This past October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our team at SHAREing & CAREing had the privilege of joining United Airlines at LaGuardia Airport in New York City to share our mission and programs, and to witness firsthand the power of collective action in the workplace.

A Meaningful Invitation
When United extended the invitation to invite our survivor spokesperson Anna Kril to speak at their LGA hub, we knew it would be special. We brought Anna’s story of survival and hope to a room full of United employees who were genuinely engaged and eager to learn.
Anna’s Survivor Story and Our Mission
Anna courageously recounted her journey: what it felt like to receive a diagnosis, how she navigated treatment, and how her life transformed afterward. Through her testimonial, she highlighted the importance of early screening and ongoing support, which are key tenets of SHAREing & CAREing’s programming.
Our mission—to ensure no one feels alone or hopeless during a time of illness—was amplified in this setting. We explained our services: community outreach, screening navigation, support groups, and advocacy. We invited United team members to become awareness champions in their spheres.

Employee Engagement That Made a Difference
From the outset, the United employees at LGA showed remarkable energy and openness. We found that United’s internal culture of giving back aligned beautifully with our vision for health equity and cancer awareness.
Why Workplace Outreach Matters
Engaging employees at institutions such as United Airlines offers a powerful channel for spreading awareness and fostering healthier communities. As the American Cancer Society notes, workplace programs can help drive early detection, counselling, and wellness related to breast cancer. Organizations that involve their employees at meaningful levels see higher engagement, stronger culture, and measurable community impact.
Gratitude and Looking Ahead
We are deeply grateful to United Airlines for this invitation and for opening the door to meaningful dialogue about cancer awareness and support at LGA. A special thank‑you to Anna for sharing so honestly, and to every United employee who attended, asked questions, and pledged to be part of the conversation.
Moving ahead, we look forward to deeper collaborations with corporate partners, exploring ways of integrating screening awareness into workplace wellness programs, and inviting more organizations to join us in building a culture of care and action.
