We are so thankful to the members of the SHAREing & CAREing community who came out to show their support on Saturday, Feb 25, 2017 for our Annual Survivors Family Day Celebration!
Held at Antonio’s Kitchen in Astoria from 1pm to 5pm, long-term survivors, people currently facing cancer, members of the board of directors and their friends and families gathered to connect with new and old friends. We enjoyed great food as well as a slideshow of great memories of fundraisers, workshops and activities in the history of our organization. SHAREing & CAREing co-founder Anna Kril gave a heartfelt acknowledgement to all the attendees and thanked them for their support over the years. Face painting, sand bottle crafts and coloring pages organized by a pink-clad clown delighted younger kids.
This annual event was truly a celebration of life, survivorship and going through tough times together as a community. It was a chance to reflect on those we miss who did not survive, but are still in our hearts, and a chance to be with those we love and who have been there for us when we needed them most. It was a celebration of the ties that bind and sustain us and keep us hopeful during the toughest of times. And with so many children at the event, there is also the hope for a better future, as advances are made in the detection, treatment and prevention of cancer.
