Astoria/Queens SHARE-ING and CARE-ING, Inc. dba SHAREing & CAREing is pleased to announce the appointment of Debra Markell-Kleinert as its new Executive Director. Markell-Kleinert, a Queens professional with over twenty-seven years of government and executive level experience and a 911 survivor, joins the SHAREing & CAREing team after serving as New York City Queens District Manager for 19 years and working in the administration for two mayors. Throughout her career, she has illustrated her commitment to strengthening communities, expanding access to essential resources, and building meaningful partnerships that create lasting impact.

SHAREing & CAREing was founded in 1994 by four breast cancer survivors in response to the lack of breast cancer services in Queens County and to improve the lives of those living with cancer. It is a one-stop, grassroots, community-based organization which provides free bilingual supportive services to cancer survivors and their families as well as cancer awareness and health & wellness education to the broader community, annually serving 3000 individuals.
As Executive Director, Markell-Kleinert will oversee the organization’s operations, strategic planning, community programs, fundraising initiatives, and partnerships while continuing to advance SHAREing & CAREing’s longstanding commitment to educating vulnerable and at-risk populations and serving Queens residents living with cancer.
