One of our partner schools, International High School for Health Sciences, provides an in-depth unit on Cancer and Empathy for their students every two years. SHAREing & CAREing survivors and staff participated in 2017, and found the experience rewarding and thought-provoking. It was a great opportunity to have an impact on a students’ lives and, also, give useful feedback for those entering the health care professions.
SHAREing & CAREing survivors have found the interviews so rewarding in 2017 that several are choosing to participate again this year along with new survivor volunteers and program staff. We will be participating in a series of interviews with students in classes on April 15. An additional 10-15 S&C cancer survivors will participate in interviews with students throughout April and May as they move intensively into the cancer and empathy curriculum.
