Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S and between 2007 and 2011 over 4.9 million Americans were treated for it. Despite these sobering statistics, there is still a popularly held belief that African-Americans are unaffected by skin cancer. Why has this idea endured? And to what extent is it true?
